What Is Beetsmart?

Beetsmart is the Urban Beet's healthy eating program. This exciting, exclusive program offers delicious healthy eating options for everyone.

Choosing foods and meals analyzed for protein, carbohydrate, and fat content as well as calories helps you take responsibility for your health while enjoying restaurant eating. We even offer take away frozen Beetsmart dinners you can enjoy at home.

Why?

Healthy eating can be a part of everyday life. We want to help our customers by taking the "guesswork" out of eating out. If you aim for a healthy ratio of protein/carbohydrate/fat you will help keep your body's blood sugar in check and provide the energy and nutrients you need for your organs, bones, and muscles to function at their best.

How?

Look for the Beetsmart symbol indicating a food item that has been analyzed for you. The information card will contain the food breakdown, calories, and "nutrient stats" (health packed heros that are particularly high in that food, ie: iron).

What is a healthy ratio of protein/carbohydrate/fats?

In any one meal it is important to include some of each so that generally throughout the day you are maintaining steady blood sugar levels, helping to maximize energy and decrease cravings. Too many refined carbohydrates (ie: white bread, pasta, rice) can leave you feeling empty and craving sugar. Heavier protein meals (ie: beef, pork, cheese) are harder to digest and don't provide you with as much energy. Too much fat (ie: deep fried, sauces, creams) can cause that uncomfortable "too full" feeling and leave you tired.
